IT’S BACK!
SANTA BARBARA STUDIO ARTISTS’ OPEN STUDIOS TOUR RETURNS LABOR DAY WEEKEND
JUNE 24, 2021
Opening reception Friday, Sept. 3, at the Community Arts Workshop

The Central Coast’s oldest and most prestigious open studios tour returns to Santa Barbara Labor Day Weekend, following a one-year hiatus last year due to Covid-19. Twenty-eight acclaimed artists will welcome visitors to their studios for the 20th Annual Open Studios Tour, which begins with a reception Friday, Sept. 3, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Community Arts Workshop, 631 Garden Street. The event continues through Monday, Sept. 6.

The abstract paintings of Pamela Benham are among the artists and works featured in this year’s Open Studios Tour

This year’s featured artists include Pamela Benham (abstract paintings), Lisa Crane (ceramics), Karen Fedderson (California coastal landscapes), Rick Garcia (landscapes and botanical paintings), Pamela Larsson-Toscher (portraits & surrealistic dream paintings), Susan Tibbles (assemblages and encaustics), and many more. Participating artists will display a yellow flag, signaling that their studio is open for visitors.

Each year this exceptional group offers the public a rare chance to visit the artists in their work environment. The tour draws local, national and international collectors, decorators, gallery owners, and art lovers of all kinds for a weekend devoted to viewing and purchasing fine art. And because the tour—and most galleries—were closed last year, participating artists have more work than ever to display.

As noted, the event kicks off with an opening reception on Friday evening. Studios will then be open 11 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 4-5; and 11 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 6.

Tickets are $25 (children under 12 free) and can be purchased online after July 1 at www.santabarbarastudioartists.com. Tickets, tour maps, and a preview of the tour will also be available at the Community Arts Workshop throughout Labor Day weekend.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Food Bank of Santa Barbara County, which played a heroic role in helping county residents survive the pandemic lockdown last year.
